The successful Otways experience

Over the past decade, conservationists working in the Otways focused on protecting rainforests from logging practices.

Conservationists were successful.

On Dec 11th 2005 at Triplet Falls in the Otways, former Premier Steve Bracks announced the creation of the New Great Otway National Park which will cover 103,000 hectares of forest.

The Great Otway National Park includes all ten Otway rainforest sites of significance.

The Otway rainforest campaign success prompted conservationists to set up a Victorian state-wide rainforest watchdog called the Victorian Rainforest Network (VRN).
